We have received the long-awaited Huron I GG+A Post-Campaign Analysis study that University Advancement commissioned. Given our ongoing One U Advancement initiative, I am pleased to share the executive summary of that report, which is linked at the bottom of this message. Before you visit the executive summary, I’d like to share two important contextual points:
First, it’s critical that we now share the findings of this report with all of you as significant stakeholders, and we are likewise sharing it with select institutional leadership partners in President Randall and Dr. Carter’s cabinets, the key college and school deans/directors whom we support in advancement, and select members of the Board of Trustees, to name just a few.
We will review this report—and address questions, observations, or any clarifications that arise—in a special virtual University Wide Advancement Meeting (UWAM) on March 31 (look for the UWAM calendar invite coming this week). Members of the Huron I GG+A team who developed the report will also be in attendance.
Please submit any questions you would like addressed during this UWAM by March 26.
Second, in light of 42 individual recommendations contained within the full report itself, the extended leadership team and I have identified some apparent opportunities for immediate implementation. After analysis and thought, we viewed the following as poised to quickly benefit our operation while supporting our core values and One U Advancement. I am pleased to share that effective April 1, we are:
- Consolidating the VP for Advancement’s number of direct reports from six to four, which will now include Kris Bosman, chief alumni relations officer; Jerome Davies, chief philanthropy officer; Claire Martinez, deputy chief philanthropy officer for Donor Relations, Communications, & Marketing; and Dhiraj Chand, deputy chief philanthropy officer for Principal Gifts.
- Reducing from two Chief Philanthropy Officers to one to provide continuity and shared oversight under One U Advancement.
- Reorganizing our organizational structure such that Paul Majnik, deputy chief philanthropy officer for Advancement Services, and Daniel Hadley, deputy chief philanthropy officer for Advancement Operations, will report through the chief philanthropy officer.
- Creating a new organizational component overseeing the central functions of Legacy Giving and Annual Giving to report through the chief philanthropy officer via a new position (this will also serve to align Annual Giving operations and resources of both main campus and University of Utah Health into one overarching unit).
- Positioning gift officers and Prospect Management to meet on a required, frequent cadence.
- Reviewing 111 high-priority unassigned $10M+ prospects; 2,197 high-priority unassigned $1M+ prospects; and 900+ high-priority unassigned $100,000–$999,999 prospects for qualification and assignment into gift officer portfolios.
- Revising our most current Advancement Service Agreements to include greater specificity around support services (to be achieved in the next iteration of the agreement).
- Retaining the current structure of grateful patient operational staff reporting through Prospect Management & Research.
Please access the executive summary of the Huron I GG+A report, and once you have reviewed the report, please place any questions or items to be addressed further during our March 31 UWAM in this Qualtrics survey.
With significant thanks for your efforts to engage with this information,
Heidi
